How to run Civ VI on a Second Monitor

A quick guide on how to run Sid Meier’s Civilization VI on a secondary monitor.

Start up the game and go to game options, then graphics, set the window mode to window and also set the resolution to whatever your second monitor is setup as. Then move the window over to the second monitor and go back to graphics, switch it to borderless window mode.

If you are running into any of the following issues with running civ vi on a second monitor:

  • Mouse doesn’t work correctly on the menu’s UI
  • Screen UI is to small

First go to the install directory for CIV VI, this is where my install location was located: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier’s Civilization VI\Base\Binaries\Win64Steam

Then right click on the executable that you start up the game with which is either CivilizationVI.exe or CivilizationVI_DX12.exe, select Properties then

Go to Compatibility Tab

Then in Settings select Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:

Select System

Apply then OK
