Reimagining The Viewing Experience

Twitch is introducing major technical and interface upgrades to make watching streams more engaging on every device.

  • Dual Format Streaming
    Starting in mid June streamers can broadcast in both horizontal and vertical formats at the same time. Mobile users get a full screen vertical layout optimized for phones while desktop viewers enjoy the classic horizontal view.
  • Enhanced Broadcasting With 2K Quality
    All partners and affiliates will gain access to 2K or 1440p streaming in mid June. Client side encoding creates multiple quality variants while increased bit rates reach up to 9 Mbps for 1440p and 7.5 Mbps for 1080p. Server side transcoding helps reduce the load on streamer hardware.
  • Intelligent Notifications
    Avatars now appear in notifications to boost engagement. Soon mid stream alerts will notify your community when you switch games welcome a guest or break a hype train record.
  • Mid Stream Summaries Powered By AI
    New arrivals can instantly see a short AI generated recap of everything that happened so far. This lets them join the stream without missing a beat and feel right at home.

A New Vision For Clips

Clips are becoming a core discovery tool and easy way for communities to catch up on the best moments.

  • Autoclips Beta
    This smart system automatically creates captioned clips based on chat activity vocal tone changes and on screen events. Streamers can also trigger it instantly with the voice command Twitch clip that.
  • Enhanced Community Clips
    Beginning next week streamers gain the ability to add and edit captions on clips made by their viewers. Upcoming improvements will add auto cropping and trimming options.
  • Highlight Reels In Stories
    In June the stream summary will show a sorted list of the best clips. Streamers can share the top five directly to their Stories feed with one click creating a perfect highlight reel for anyone who missed the live show.
  • Discovery Points For Clips
    Clips will now appear right inside the live feed and clips feed. Viewers can react to them in Stories which helps decide what content gets shared beyond the platform.

Fun And Rewarding Monetization

Twitch is rolling out creative ways for streamers to earn while giving fans more interactive experiences.

  • Custom Power Ups
    Streamers can now design their own channel specific rewards for bits. Examples include special visual effects like Pickle Time or fun real world actions such as wearing a hot dog costume.
  • Creator Badge Drops
    Design custom chat badges to celebrate milestones like subathons or partnerversaries. Viewers unlock them through watch time or gifting subs. Early tests showed up to 50 percent more gift sub revenue on the first day of events.
  • Hype Train Evolutions
    The Community Train rewards non spending viewers with emotes and earns twice as much as standard trains. The rare Mythic Train gives golden versions of iconic emotes like PogChamp for use across Twitch for 24 hours.
  • Gift Em All And Tier Upgrades
    One user can now gift up to 1000 subscriptions to everyone watching and following at once. Higher tier subs will soon use GIFs in chat thanks to a partnership with Giphy while streamers control frequency and moderation.
  • Sponsorship Expansion And Currency Benefits
    Bounty Board joins creator sponsorships through Open Invite campaigns available to both partners and affiliates. Gameplay demos expand to Europe and Asia. Promotional hours for the 35 percent gift sub discount now reach 96 hours per year. Starting this summer SEPA payouts in Euro countries will have zero conversion fees and lower transfer costs.

Strengthening Community Safety And Belonging

Twitch continues to invest in moderation tools and inclusive spaces for all creators.

  • AutoMod Evolution
    The system now learns from real moderator actions. It automatically detects new spam patterns and variations of banned words making moderation smarter over time.
  • Mod Appreciation
    Starting next week mod anniversaries will appear in chat every six months to celebrate the hard work of moderators who keep communities healthy.
  • Twitch Unity Guilds Expansion
    Three new official creator run spaces launched: the Indigenous Guild the Disability Guild and the Asian Guild. These join the existing program that already supports over 8000 streamers.
