• The marked were not taught to heal the wound, but to deny it a place to settle, until venom, darkness, and fear passed over them empty.
• Thus the chosen were taught to walk untouched where others faltered, that no affliction might claim what had been sealed against loss.
• For the strongest ward is not the light that shines outward, but the void that permits nothing in.
