EVE Online Cradle of War Ignites Player Driven Empire Conflict

News

Announced at EVE Fanfest 2026 and launching June 9 2026, Cradle of War opens the Theaters of War saga with safe starter space, visible achievements, and Military Campaigns that let every capsuleer create permanent change across New Eden.

The Dawn of Theaters of War

For years capsuleers have asked for a better way to begin their journey in New Eden and for deeper ways to shape the universe they inhabit. At Fanfest 2026, Fenris Creations answered with Cradle of War, the opening chapter of a multi expansion arc called Theaters of War.

This is not a simple content drop. It redefines how new players enter the sandbox, how veterans engage with factional conflict, and how collective player action can permanently rewrite the map, economy, and living history of the game.

The entire expansion rests on three clear pillars: elevating immersion, delivering tangible player impact from day one, and offering progressive complexity so everyone can grow into EVE without feeling overwhelmed.

Exordium: A True Safe Haven for New Capsuleers

The headline new player feature is Exordium, the first non player versus player region in New Eden. Jointly overseen by AIR Laboratories and CONCORD, this 53 system region acts as a dedicated starter space where new capsuleers can learn the ropes without the full pressure of open space.

What makes Exordium different?

  • No player driven war declarations or Factional Warfare
New players can focus on learning core mechanics without sudden conflict disrupting their progress.
  • No directional scanner available
Removes one layer of advanced awareness so beginners can concentrate on basic navigation and activities.
  • No player deployed structures
Keeps the environment clean and prevents early economic exploitation or camping.
  • Economic limits in place
Prevents low risk farming while still allowing meaningful progression and activity.

Manifest serves as the central trade and logistics hub with a direct connection to Yulai and an AIR Labs Trade Center. Four empire embassy constellations let new players explore Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, and Minmatar cultures up close through career agents, mining sites, hacking opportunities, and a brand new Epic Arc that uses hyper real simulations of legendary battles.

Players can leave Exordium whenever they feel ready. Upon graduation, one time ship casters in each embassy constellation give direct access to the respective faction Factional Warfare headquarters. Most importantly, new players can already contribute to ongoing Military Campaigns from inside this protected space.

Achievements and Titles: Your Story Becomes Visible

Cradle of War introduces a formal Achievement System with its own dedicated window. It tracks progress across combat, hacking, market activity, exploration, and even memorable ship losses.

Rewards include skill points, an achievement score, and new Titles that appear in chat, station listings, and the character sheet. Your playstyle now carries visible reputation that other capsuleers can see.

Some titles are evergreen while others tie directly to Military Campaigns. The system gives new players clear goals and gives veterans a fresh way to show off their accomplishments.

Military Campaigns: Every Capsuleer Can Change New Eden

The flagship feature is Military Campaigns, seasonal region spanning conflicts that run from June through September. The four empires call on capsuleers to fight, mine, hack, build, and support logistics for their causes.

Players track progress through personal and global objectives. Success or failure creates permanent changes: new monuments appear, infrastructure is built or lost, taxes shift, stargates are constructed, and the historical record updates forever.

A new Theaters of War Dashboard brings everything together in one place: flipped systems, pirate insurgencies, personal progress, and overall campaign status.

The Blessed Exchange

Amarr seeks to bring glory to its economy. Success may establish the Deaconry of Economic Oversight Office and deliver significantly reduced taxes and brokerage fees across Amarr space. Contributions focus on economic, industrial, and combat support.

Even from inside Exordium, capsuleers can already contribute through high security activities in border systems without affecting standard Factional Warfare standings.

Factional Warfare Gets a Fresh Update

Cradle of War brings meaningful changes to Factional Warfare designed to reduce passive participation and refresh the experience for active pilots.

Reward changes

Battlefield rewards move away from flat Loyalty Point payouts toward lootable items dropped by NPCs. Expect new skins, skin components, and faction specific modules including Missile Guidance for Caldari and Minmatar plus Drone and Hybrid options for Amarr and Gallente.

New complex types

  • Battlefield Plex
Built for small groups of around three players in Battlecruisers. Includes a skill level bonus so a Level 5 pilot performs closer to Level 6.
  • Chaos Complex
Frontline site for up to ten players in Tech 3 Destroyers or smaller. Applies three random environmental effects from a huge pool of combinations, forcing constant tactical adaptation.
  • Solo Plexes
Interceptor only sites with a ten minute timer and T1 Attack or Combat Frigate sites with a five minute timer and fast respawning NPCs.

New Warships: Navy Destroyers and Command Carriers

Eight new warships expand options for both small gang and large scale fleet play.

Navy Issue Destroyers

Fast to skill into and affordable, these ships shine in coordinated Factional Warfare and small scale fights:

  • Dragoon Navy Issue (Amarr) — Built for draining and disabling enemies.
  • Corax Navy Issue (Caldari) — Strong shields and flexible fitting options.
  • Algos Navy Issue (Gallente) — Superior weapon systems and web drone linkages.
  • Talwar Navy Issue (Minmatar) — Excellent fortitude and efficiency.

Tech 2 Command Carriers

These massive mobile command centers act as true force multipliers with three powerful command bursts, enhanced conduit jumps, and specialized fighters:

  • Salvation (Amarr) — Armor reinforcement and energy neutralization focus.
  • Simurgh (Caldari) — Shield enhancement and electronic warfare fleet awareness.
  • Gaia (Gallente) — Locking control and dictating engagement flow.
  • YMIR (Minmatar) — High speed resilience with stasis web fighters.
