Full PvP Server Shard with Faction Warfare & Logistics – The Missing Spice for Dune: Awakening

Opinion

After sinking 12 hours into the Dune: Awakening beta weekend, I’m hooked, but there’s a glaring gap: we need a full PvP, full raid server shard where the entire map—Hagga Basin included—is a warzone. The Deep Desert’s PvP is a solid start, but limiting it to one zone feels like a missed opportunity for the cutthroat, immersive chaos Arrakis deserves.

Here’s my pitch for a dedicated full PvP shard with these features:

  • Full PvP & Raiding Everywhere: No safe zones. Bases in Hagga Basin should be raidable (with balanced mechanics, like shield timers or storm vulnerabilities). This would crank up the stakes and make every decision—where to build, when to scavenge—feel alive with risk.
  • Faction Points & Kill Mails: Introduce a system where kills grant faction points (Atreides vs. Harkonnen) and generate kill mails for bragging rights. This would give PvP a tangible reward beyond loot and make every skirmish feel impactful.
  • Faction Loyalty Merchants: Earn faction points to spend at merchants for exclusive gear, cosmetics, or base upgrades. This would deepen the commitment to your chosen House and give solo players and guilds clear progression goals.
  • Dynamic NPC Battlegrounds: Create a rotating zone where NPC factions (Atreides, Harkonnen, maybe even a future third faction) clash over spice or control points. Players can jump in to tip the scales, earning points and loot. Think Planetside 2 meets Arrakis.
  • PvE Logistics for Faction Support: For players who prefer to avoid PvP, add a system where they can mine, craft, or transport materials to a Faction Stronghold Base. The more resources the base receives, the more NPC reinforcements or siege equipment it sends to the battlefield. This gives non-PvPers a way to contribute to their faction’s dominance without getting ganked.

I get that not everyone wants this—Hagga Basin’s PvE focus is great for casual play, and the devs have emphasized a PvE-PvP balance. But a dedicated full PvP shard would cater to the hardcore crowd craving a truly unforgiving Arrakis. Imagine guilds vying for spice blooms, betrayals at shipwrecks, and massive battles over strongholds, all while logistics players keep the war machine humming.

What do you think? Would you play on a full PvP shard? Any tweaks to make this work without alienating the PvE crowd? Let’s get this idea to the devs before release!

  1. Only if they add a Fully dedicated PvE server too with what you wrote above by substituting all the “PvP” you wrote there with “PvE”. So we give ppl really a choice on what they prefer to play. Instead of forcing or promoting only grefing, especially when the endgame is already basically PvP gankfest. so a PvE shard would make way more sense, since thats what the endgame actually lacks.
