Roles include:

Aircraft Carriers: – able to launch fighter planes and torpedo bombers.
Battleships – tank ships with powerful main guns, slow reload.
Cruisers – fast, various abilities (some can outfit torpedoes, short/long range AA etc.) depending on hull.
Destroyers – very fast, short & long range torpedo depending on hull, some hulls have AA.

Players gain experience and credits based on their performance during battles in either co-op or random mode against other players. These points can be used to research and purchase additional ships of varying tiers as they progress through the tech trees of different nations.
